Yielding Phenomenon of an Al-3% Li Alloy

چکیده
where the specimens are recovered but not recrystallized. This second type of yielding is characterized by a sharp yield drop and long yield elongation. A mechanism of the second type of yielding has not been investigated, but it is clear that the yielding phenomenon is not due to a simple effect of strain aging, because the specimens has recovered so that dislocation arrangements should have changed on annealing. In the present study, the second type of yielding was investigated, by using mainly an AI-317o Li alloy which had been over-aged and then cold-rolled(1). By combining information obtained from the stress-strain curves, transmission electron microscopy, lattice constant measurement and electrical resistivity measurement, the necessary conditions for the appearance of the yielding were discussed in terms of heat-treatments, i.e. overaging, annealing and testing temperature. Further, the general requirements for the yielding were considered. II. Experimental Procedure

MECHANISMS OFPRECIPITATES FORMATION IN AN Al- Cu- Li-ZrALLOYUSINGDSC TECHNIQUE AND ELECTRICALRESISTANCE MEASUREMENTS
Abstract: Guinier-Preston (GP) zone formation and precipitation behavior of T1 (Al2CuLi) phase during the ageingof an Al-Cu-Li-Zr alloy was studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) technique and electrical resistancemeasurement of the samples. Results show that endothermic effects in the thermograms of the alloy between 180°Cand 240°C can be related to the enthalpy of GPzones dissolut...
متن کاملDISLOCATIONS STRUCTURE AND SCATTERING PHENOMENON IN CRYSTALLINE CELL SIZE OF 2024 AL ALLOY DEFORMED BY ONE PASS OF ECAP AT ROOM TEMPERATURE
Variation in microstructural features of 2024 aluminum alloy plastically deformed by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) at room temperature, was investigated by X-Ray diffraction in this work. These include dislocation density dislocation characteristic and the cell size of crystalline domains. Dislocations contrast factor was calculated using elastic constants of the alloy such as C 11, C 2...
متن کاملبررسی اثر اکستروژن در کانال زاویه دار همسان بر رفتار پیر کرنشی دینامیکی یک آلیاژ Al-Mg-Si-Cu
An Al-Mg-Si-Cu alloy was subjected to tensile testing, both under solutionized and ECAE-ed conditions, using strain rates of 10-4 s-1 to 10-1 s-1 at temperatures of 25 ˚C to 325 ˚C to investigate the dynamic strain aging (DSA) phenomenon in the alloy. Negative strain rate sensitivity (m) and increasing ultimate tensile stress were observed in the DSA region with increasing temperature . Regardi...
متن کاملEFFECTS OF Al-5TI-1B MASTER ALLOY AND HEAT TREATMENT ON THE MICROSTRUCTURE AND DRY SLIDING WEAR BEHAVIOR OF AN Al-12Zn-3Mg-2.5Cu ALLOY
In this study the effect of Al–5Ti–1B grain refiner on the structural characteristics and wear properties of Al–12Zn–3Mg–2.5Cu alloy was investigated. The optimum amount for Ti containing grain refiners was selected as 2 wt.%. T6 heat treatment, (i.e. heating at 460 °C for 1 h before water quenching to room temperature and then aging at 120 °C for 24 h) was applied for all specimens before wear...
متن کاملThe Effect of Mg Adding Order on the Liquid Structure and Solidified Microstructure of the Al-Si-Mg-P Alloy: An Experiment and ab Initio Study
In this paper, the relationship between the liquid structure and the corresponding solidified microstructure of an Al-Si-Mg-P alloy was studied. Experimental results show that Mg can reduce the phosphorous-modification effect if it was added after adding Al-P alloy. However, when it is added before adding Al-P alloy, Mg has no effect on the phosphorous-modification. It is considered that the di...
